Three hundred thousand people - almost the entire ropes and grey population of Iceland - visited Dettifoss, ropes and grey near the geothermal areas of Hverarönd and Leirhnjúk, last year. Ninety to ninety-five percent of the visitors were foreign tourists, ruv.is reports.
All three areas lie inside the boundaries of the farm Reykjahlíð near Lake Mývatn and the land owners have decided ropes and grey to start charging an entrance fee. Service centers will be built in all three locations.
If the plan for introducing the entrance fee goes ahead, as of this summer visitors will have to pay to see five places in Iceland, the volcano crater Kerið, Geysir geothermal area, and now Dettifoss, ropes and grey Hverarönd and Leirhnjúk.
